A perfect Setting for the Conference

Opportunities for enjoyment at the 29th IAPH World Ports Conference for all that take part: While a lively accompanying persons’ programme will be held on the five conference days offering exciting and interesting discovery tours through Hamburg and its surrounding area, moderator Max Boodie will make sure that conference attendees will have an informative week at the Congress Center Hamburg (CCH). Enjoyment for delegates and accompanying persons alike is guaranteed!

The accompanying persons’ programme offers two tour choices every day. Visitors will be shown the diversity of Hamburg as a business location, as a port city, cultural capital and popular recreation area. A look behind the scenes of the world’s leading commercial aircraft manufacturer, Europe’s largest continuous fruit-growing region, one of Germany’s largest breweries and the world’s largest model railway – these are just some of the highlights accompanying persons may look forward to. In addition they will explore the city on foot, by boat or by double-decker bus – from Hamburg’s famous warehouse city [Speicherstadt] to Blankenese; from HafenCity to the New Town. On a journey from the past to the present, visitors will learn about how Hamburg became a city with more than one million inhabitants and experience Hamburg’s unique flair. In the meantime, moderator Max Boodie leads the conference delegates at CCH through the programme. Book author, entrepreneur, consultant, supply chain specialist – the Dutch national with roots in Surinam is multi-talented and active in a wide range of fields. Over the course of his 25-year career as a consultant, company founder and investor in various technology-driven companies he became particularly interested in methods to efficiently deploy and promote the development of people: “A genuine interest in people has always been a central part of my career. I want to know what moves and excites them and what their ‘call to action’ is.” This explains the continuous efforts of the 50-year-old to interlink people and help them to establish new, successful connections. He managed exactly that when he moderated the “2013 International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH) Africa/Europe Regional Meeting” in Amsterdam.
